This is and will be officially the last post i put in this blog on friendster…. whether i decide to bring it back sometime in the future remains a question unanswered…..

Well…i’ve actually moved to blogspot for about a week now…. and had also intended to continue blogging from there….until my office decided that blogspot sites are also to be banned and filtered…..

its pissing me off….

But unfortunately, its not my company so what i say doesnt really matter…. and well, im actually planning to just stop blogging….. only the odd post once a month or something….. But now that i have my internet connection at home set up again…. maybe twice a week should be alright..depending on whether or not ive got things to yak about….

Anyway…. cheers to friendster blogs….on to blogspot…..

Friendster deprived

October 26th, 2006 by dougster

Its unbelievable how a day at the office seems so empty without being able to check up on friendster…. I guess its one of those things similar to forgetting to wear a watch when you’re out of the house….u know? u feel….incomplete? Or whatabout if you leave your handphone behind and forget to take it out with you….you feel sort of….lost?  Something along those lines….

The only form of contact i have at the office is msn where im normally chatting with Char about sleeping and scanning name cards, car buddies, posting on the forums and of course having chats with my baby… what hasnt made things easier is the fact that my baby cant access msn in her office….. sigh…i can only chat through the inbox which most of the time, loads real slow…

Oh Joy…..

Anyway….

Its gonna be friday tomoro and its nice to know that it’ll be the weekend after that….thing is, next week is gonna be a full week yet again and im really dreading the coming monday…. So much for having adapted to working routines and shit…..i guess im just not "there" yet as i claimed to be previously…

Charlotte’s been acting a bit annoying again recently, her speedometer seems to have decided to stop moving for a while…. i hate problems like these coz their not consistent…. they work for a while, and the next thing you know, their not working….. Im just gonna have to bring it to trusty old Mr.tan’s workshop to fix it up…. hopefully it wont cost much so i can get those headlight bulbs ive been needing….. i doubt it’ll cost much coz i think its just the cable which needs adjusting…. HOPEFULLY….

Adding to that, is the clutch…yet again, i think it got a little bit worse….i can hardly accelerate up a slope now….. it slips once i make the engine put in that little bit more effort to go against gravity….. unfortunately it doesnt happen…. and i really really need to get it changed before i cant even move anymore….

Cars aside….i managed to find the latest Pro Evolution Soccer series which is the 6th installment of the PES series….well….its basically identical with the winning eleven 10 version i bought apart from some updates and unfortunately the commentary is in FRENCH….yea…. if only i had taken my french classes more seriously! im not too happy, although hearing the players names being pronounced in a french accent is sort of a breathe of fresh air as ive been hearing the japanese commentator from winning eleven shout RRRRRRRRroooooneeeeeyyyyy….. a bit too often….

I managed to burn my EA trax cd which features most of the songs in the Need for speed underground series as well as a couple from SSX 3…. made use of marcus’s CD burning facilities (thanks dude) and im real happy i finally made it into a cd for myself…my cousin, Bob and i used to have a copy previously but it was "taken" from us by Kaiza….ahaha….. and its never been seen since…..

I guess its bye for now….im getting kinda sleepy at the moment and ive got nothing much to write about anyway….

Out of the ordinary

October 23rd, 2006 by dougster

Well, not often do i find myself sitting in front of the PC at this time of time (1:24am) on this day of the week (monday or rather tuesday morning) More so is the fact that im using my grandad’s PC.

Most of KL was on holiday today but unfortunately due to some company policies and job characteristics, i had to get to work early on a monday morning…. As if the circumstances werent bad enough, i woke up with a bad stomache ache and a slight headache….What a way to start a monday…..

I woke up half an hour later than usual, predicting that there wouldnt be any traffic on this day considering the holidays which were going on, and well that half an hours extra sleep i guess was better than no extra sleep at all…. It took merely 15 minutes for me to get to work without all the usual traffic….normally i take 30 minutes more than that and sometimes even more… I had to literally drag my heavy head into the car and drive to what was a very empty parking space which is usually filled by that time….on normal days of course….

Work was fine, same old same old…. i did mention before that i cant log on to friendster from the computer at the office right now which is of course a major bummer during the not so busy times at the office….. SO yea, as much as i wanted to blog, i couldnt….. and only now after being deprived of blogging, do i feel how much i actually enjoy this shit….. hahaha…. My alternative to blogging was to do something rather on the contrary. I’ve been reading instead of writing articles on www.topgear.com, which is a famous automobile programme on BBC as well as a top selling car magazine. I’ve went through almost all the road tests on various makes and models and i must say what great writers these guys are. Bear in mind, they are British but their choice of words are second to none and although i dont have a clue about their metaphors most of the time, their write ups still remain a captivating read for me…. and i’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them…. unfortunately, the cars they highlight are way out of reach for mediochre individuals such as ourselves.  For instance, the Bugatti Veyron which smashed the 400kmh mark….. i couldnt even dream of ever driving one as much as im tempted to after reading what they had to say about this marvel of science…

AAnyway…

Work was over at normal time and basically the rest of the day went as usual, only prolonging to the wee hours in the morning as compared to the usual 11pm that i normally stay up until on normal weekdays…. Nice though…. and yes, Tuesday and Wednesday are holidays for me….

Fast forward to this evening…. i just sent my baby back after a nice laid back evening with her and on the way, i went head to head with a very showy Hyundai RXS-5 fully equipped with strobe lights, meters, 16"s, and a not-so-stock exhaust to match….what engine upgrades he was packing i wasnt too sure…. SO anyway….forgive me if i may seem reckless, i was just looking for a short adrenaline rush and unfortunately the condition of my clutch would not really allow me to out-drag say a Gti for now…FOR NOW…Anyway…..

We pulled uphill all the way to the bottoms section of the Happy garden, Mega mendung traffic light section where we had to stop and as required by illegal dragging tradition, look at each other and acknowledge something….. Now that i look back, im wondering what the hell was i thinking….. I had insufficient braking power, a slipping clutch, only running on low boost and it was a wet road….  Well, those facts actually made it all the more interesting for myself as i weighed my chances….

Clutch in, Entered the gear knob to first and waited for the green light….. Before i knew it, the hyundai was spinning his tyres as if there was no tomorrow, full on the throttle with his windows down and strobe lights in full force….. Unfortunately for me, i cant launch at peak torque coz of the clutch slip.. So Off the hyundai went…..As for myself, i had to rev the 1st gear to about 5k rpm, feel the clutch bite and shift to 2nd….. By the time, i can see the hyundai slowly but surely pulling to about a cars length ahead of me….

The hyundai dude mustve been a happy chap and one of the few proud hyundai owners as he seemed to have charlotte smoked over the first 40 meters, but once the clutch gave a bit more bite in 3rd, charlotte was free revving up the Hyundais tail lights all the way to the point where i had to turn off…. Imagine this in 2nd gear, Throttle is at 3/4, Revs remaining at 5,000 but the speedometer is climbing oh-so slowly till the 100kmh mark, there’s just such an immense lack of G-force that it seriously hurts my feelings…hahaha….and as i mention time and time again, its frustrating…Very frustrating….

The point of it all? well, there really isnt any apart from a good 10 seconds of thrill of which i risked wrecking my car…..hahaha…sad but true….20 year olds such as myself are of course prone to letting our adrenaline take over us….adding to that, is the satisfaction of glancing back to see a very disspapointed looking face as if he realized that no matter how nice your car looks, if u get beaten by a modest looking opponent, it does leave you with a bad mental record of being smoked…… Deny it if you wish, but thats how i feel at least….Rxs5_6

SO yea…Hyundai RXS-5 smoked with low boost, and slipping clutch….

If after reading this you’re gonna think of asking me to take on more powerful cars, ill just have to say wait till my clutch gets replaced….hahaha….

Speaking of replacing parts, i’ve already budgeted to get my brake pads done and my steering wheel replaced sometime next month….hopefully the clutch will come soon after…..

Well…its 2am now…and im looking to get some rest tomorrow….one of the few weeks where there are 2 days consecutive holiday to catch up on chilling…. and i just noticed that the 28th (pay day) is on saturday..which means i would have to wait till monday to get the money to be available…..sigh.. this means another poor end to the month…

For the love of my life….

October 16th, 2006 by dougster

The title of this post refers to the weekend i had including today, which is a monday of which i took leave from work to celebrate my baby’s birthday which was yesterday…the 15th of october…. The days before that, were simply great….

I’d been planning the party for my baby for a week since saturday, and unfortunately it was not the surprise party like i had intially intended it to be…i think ive explained my inability to surprise people a post or 2 before this one….For 10 days from Friday, i was to be staying alone as my grandparents and my sister had gone to the land down under for a holiday…. SO yea….i was given the responsibility to take care of this big house….For me? Im taking it as a gauge to whether or not im able to be independent…..do house chores, take care of the responsibilities left behind and stuff…..SO far, it’s been nothing short of being perfect…

Anyway….

Saturday was a day id been waiting for…The day to see whether or not all that planning was to pay off….The venue for the night was Oasis, Bangsar and i have to say…it could not have gone better….

I’ve liked the layout of the place since the first time i went there…..Its got a very bali-ish feel to it with intimate lighting, great food, nice atmosphere, a big projector screen, and a concept unlike many other food and beverage outlets available out there….

The night was great overall…. My baby had her first taste of a flaming lamborghini, got a fantastic gift from kev, char and marc, a damn good birthday cake baked by Chris a.k.a Cakeboy and a fantastic dinner….

The night was just filled with endless laughter…unfortunately, shane couldnt make it coz of an injury to his head he suffered during a football game earlier in the day…But Kyle…thanks for coming….eventhough u made it seem as if u were in EXTREME pain…. Toughen up la u big softy

Dsc01748

Big thanks to everyone who made it that night….

Later that night…i gave my baby the gift i’d bought her…. The smile on her face was enough to make all that effort worthwhile….

Dsc01759

Roxy handbag, quite a lot of money……

Roxy slippers…..reasonable….

The smile on my loved ones face…..priceless…

I woke up on Sunday morning, greeted by a light sunshine through my window, and my baby next to me, who i hugged good morning…

I made Omellete ‘du Fromage for my baby and i for breakfast….for those of you not familiar with french or Dexter’s laboratory, Omelette ‘du fromage means omellete with cheese….  (i just typed omelette 3 times and i cant tell which is the correct spelling)

Today was a day for my baby….. and im glad i had the time and space to make it a great day for her…..

I’d been making plans to take her out for dinner….just the 2 of us that night and until that afternoon, we were still at a lost as to where to head to….. Finally, we decided to head down to The curve as we fancied trying out Marche’s…a place where i’d been wanting to try out for some time… and so we did…

If you havent been to marche’s, my advice to you is….GO THERE….

If you’re a food lover as i am, its a great place to go to…. Fantastic food, not too heavy on the wallet, and has a great concept as well….. Im not gonna go all out on explaining the restaurant and stuff, but believe me when i say you will not be dissapointed in making a date to have dinner there…..i personally feel that its the creme de la creme of concept restaurants….

Well….its monday night now…. and its back to work tomorrow…. Im alone in the house now and im dreading the thought of getting back into the old routine….On a more positive note, my buddy wynton is down from langkawi….I brought him to pick up his saxophone earlier today and i also managed to get myself a pair of Oakley sunglasses for 15 bucks….Is it real u ask? just look at the price and go figure….

After all that…im sitting here asking myself…. did i do enough for my baby during the weekend?

I feel i did….and she deserved it….

Happy 20th birthday my baby….

Dsc01753 I love you….

always have….always will…

DIY TMIC paint job

October 13th, 2006 by dougster

To petrol heads and friends alike…. Here’s some pics of the result i got from a DIY spray job i gave to charlottes Intercooler cover…. Although it does restrict performance a little bit, it does brighten up the engine bay a little….

Take a look and tell me what you think…

Dsc01560 Picture before the paint job….. I did some lame pin striping around the intercooler to give it a bit mroe character…the inner frame is black, and the majority of the outer frame is red….

Dsc01714 Here’s the pics after the spray….gives the dull looking engine bay a bit more character i must say…. and im really happy with the results…

Dsc01712 Here’s also a pic of my interior after getting everything fixed into palce again…. There used to be a gaping hole where then player was…. Had to DIY fabricate a cover from using number plates…

Thats all… I hope the results are as nice to everybody as they are to me….

surprise surprise…

October 12th, 2006 by dougster

Im bad with surprises… Its not that i dont love surprises once in a while….on the contrary i think their great…I love surprises actually…

BUT….

I think ive proven to myself that im bad in arranging surprises for people….on a scale of 1 to 10…i’d probably only score a 5…. Yea…

Reason being…i actually have tried to arrange surprise bdays for my baby before…. but for some reason or another, the beans will be spilt…. either by myself or with the assistance of some unsuspecting victim…hahaha…..

This time around…I’d actually tried to arrange a surprise sort of thing for my baby’s birthday which is this weekend…. on sunday to be exact…but we’ll be having the gathering on saturday night…..

anyway..

I had intially planned for it to be at Star VIllage cafe in OUG…a simple place….. but due to my baby being able to see right through me and read my mind, the surprise was exposed…. She’d guess and guess and guess and me being as soft as i am, will in the end concede… hahaha….

Other methods include me suddenly blurting out the plans subconsciously while were having a simple conversation…. yea…. it happens…..

RIght now…there’s no mroe surprise for my baby apart from the present i bought her…WHICH…coincidentally, was also supposed to be a surprise….. SO there you go… a confession of my inability to surprise people….

I can hardly remember any 100% succesful surprises i’ve done before…sad but true….

Anyway…. Im just hoping that this saturday will go alright….

My throat is killing me right now….feels like ive got something shoved down there and its beginning to feel real sore…and it worries me coz it doesnt feel like a normal sore throat. Ive been gulping down cups of hot water and it does give temporary comfort but within 10 minutes, the pain comes up again…. sigh…. Its really hard to work right now with that pain i got to bear…..

ANyway….till next time..

Fuel issues..

October 11th, 2006 by dougster

Just as i was taking the last left turn to my house, the scent of fuel rushed in to my car cabin through the air cond vents and nearly knocked me out… It was very sudden and very intense …. as I looked in my rear view mirror i noticed a trail of liquid coming from my charlottes undercarriage….

I was devastated…..

Fortunately i was able to reach my usual parking spot in front of my house…. i turned the turbo timer off, switched off the ignition and popped the hood…. Again i was hit with the same strong fumes which had invaded my cabin air space just before….

I started looking around under the car as i suspected the fuel lines from the pump at the back had busted….but nope…. no leaks there…. the fuel seemed to be dripping in high volumes from the front….so i looked way down in the engine bay, just behind the K&N filter, right in front of the firewall towards the right….and it was dripping wet…. i started charlottes battery to get the pump to deliver fuel so i could see where the leak was from … SO i peaked at the same spot and saw a large sprays of fuel, exiting the final fuel hose that delivered the fuel to the injectors….

SHIT….

I couldnt fix it as it was getting dark that time and my baby was on her way home…. so i had my bath, had dinner, and spent the rest of the evening with my baby…

I couldnt bear to wait till next morning to fix charlotte up… so i got to work after my baby went home….

At about 9:45…I Grabbed my grandfathers mobile fluoruscent lamp, and got to work…. I managed to take the damaged hose out and fortunately i had salvaged some rubber hoses from various workshops….well…i got my hands dirty and managed to change the hose…clamped them down and just as i was about to clean up..Kin Hoe passes by and asks me to play futsal…haha…. I thought about it and i joined him and chucky and some other for a short game….

I think that futsal happened for a reason…coz after the game as i was driving to BRJ, the fuel hose burst again…. sigh… the rubber hose i used was not even close to being strong enough to sustain the fuel pressure during delivery…. fortunately, i had another rubber hose which i fixed in on the spot and managed to get home….Im lucky it burst that night and not whiles i was on my way to work the next morning…. thank god….

I went to bed with an unsettled mind….constantly thinking about what i was gonna do in the morning…

Its funny how the condition of the car affects my mood so much…it sucks at times… especially when i cant drive her around…i feel terrible!

and so came the morning…. i woke up and called my boss to inform her i’d be late for work….then i rushed out to look for a proper fuel line to replace the temporary one i’d installed…. I headed to the OUG accesory shop which id done all my wiring and Mr.Tan gave me one for FREE! …. SO continues my stroke of good service with them…haha….

Then i headed home…feeling quite tired already coz it was rather hot this morning…. i installed the new fuel line and clamped it down…as tight as i could…. and Voila! i saved myself approximately RM30 for labour charges which i would have had to pay if i had sent it to a workshop

Right now the fuel line is holding up….No probs yet…But ive yet to pressure it…. Ill have to do some revving tests and see if it holds up…. i sure hope it does….

Im back at work now and its really i seem to have come back at a bad moment….everything seems hectic right now at the office….well..it is that way most of the time anyway…..

Im just looking forward to the weekend..

Satria Neo = smoked

October 9th, 2006 by dougster

By right, today is supposed to be a public holiday for certain territories in the Klang Valley… Although the occasion is of no importance to me, id never turn down an opportunity to take a day off ..Im sure i speak for 99% of the worlds working population with this statement

Anyway, its Nuzul Al Quran today and i have to admit i have no idea of its significance….BUT…it its supposed to be a holiday…unfortunately, working in a company which deals with the singapore market requires its staff to be on the ball even during malaysian holidays…. SO here i am right now…. But its alright…coz my baby is working too…so im not missing out on too much…. apart from about an additional 2 hours of sleep…..

I left for work at about 8:00 today and arrived at the office at 8:10…. record time…. THE ROADS WERE EMPTY….. ok….maybe im exaggerating a little but still, there were hardly any cars around……. and for some reason, Charlotte was in a good mood today… MINIMAL CLUTCH SLIP!!!! SO with that in mind….i drove rather fast today along the NPE all the way to Glenmarie…..and No….my recent speeding ticket did not deter my motivation to go fast this morning…. coz i hardly ever get to drive charlotte with the clutch not slipping much…. And to my Joy, a Grey Satria Neo was up for a sprint this morning….

I was cruising down past the Brothers section of the NPE on a somewhat empty right lane of the highway when in a rear view mirror, a Neo came real up close and personal with charlottes rear end…flashing its lights and revving as if it had a whole load of petrol to spare…. It was a manual….i could hear by the gear changes…. Not the quick but laggy shifts of the Auto….but more of a clutch in, over revved gear entry of a manual…… The 16" Rims made certain that it was a 1.6 unless it was a 1.3 imposter…..

No matter… I pulled to the next lane on the left….. Heard the Campro 1.6 screaming in approximately 3rd gear and got a look at the driver…. Some dude with Japan style Matt look Hair, Sunglasses on a very cloudy morning, in a formal shirt….

The Neo Doesnt have the power the normal 1.6 Proton/mitsu 4G16 engines have, the campro’s tend to have a significantly less torue over the RPM ranges as ive noticed with my baby’s car….. Dont get me wrong….the Neo one is of the most comfortable and well handling Protons aroundit would probably out-maneuvre a whole load of cars on the road…..but unfortunately, theres not much to be said of its straight line speed… On a winding road, i would lose by a mile…..but not today…. I was driving with my air conditioning off today….. as it was rather chilly this morning….. and yes…. no a/c = more power….

So just as the Neo came up on my right…. i squeezed the throttle a bit….raising the revs to about 4000rpm in 3rd…. Unfortunately, i couldnt hear the Tokyo drift theme that was playing on the radio coz of my non existent exhaust which makes the engine revving very loud in the cockpit….

Anyway….. Just as the Neo was pulling about half a car ahead i pushed the pedal to about 1/2 of charlottes full throttle….. if i’d pushed it any further im sure there’d be some slipping…..I switched to Low boost to ensure more traction but unfortunately less torque…..its better to boost low right now anyway coz id be wasting most of the 0.7 bar of boost and torque…. and charlotte picked up her pace, shifted to 4th and pulled past the Neo….

i Actually slowed down to glance at my side mirrors to take a look at the drivers face…….PRICELESS…..

I managed to Hit 180kmh on that short stretch….and charlotte remained steady…..guess its the colder air being fed into the turbine….. But now im unsure about the clutch….initially, it seemed as if the clutch would perform better after heating up, but what happened today puts that perception in doubt….Im not too sure what to think now….anyway….. I had to pull to a stop at the NPE toll….. after that i took a slow cruise to my office….

I know a Neo isnt much to brag about to have smoked….but still…… thats why charlottes a sleeper….. I cant say that its a BIIIG accomplishment coz the 1.3 Charades would be able to match the 1.6 Neo’s….. anyhow, you cant compare a turbo vs NA unless the NA has a 2.5 engine or sumthing….

Dont worry baby…im not putting down the Neo, im making fun of the driver that was driving….If i had a choice, id much prefer a Nice Black Neo as compared to my car….hehehe….wurve u…..

Charade_front        Neo_1

My daihatsu buddies are gonna kill me for saying that….

End of story….
