Well, not often do i find myself sitting in front of the PC at this time of time (1:24am) on this day of the week (monday or rather tuesday morning) More so is the fact that im using my grandad’s PC.
Most of KL was on holiday today but unfortunately due to some company policies and job characteristics, i had to get to work early on a monday morning…. As if the circumstances werent bad enough, i woke up with a bad stomache ache and a slight headache….What a way to start a monday…..
I woke up half an hour later than usual, predicting that there wouldnt be any traffic on this day considering the holidays which were going on, and well that half an hours extra sleep i guess was better than no extra sleep at all…. It took merely 15 minutes for me to get to work without all the usual traffic….normally i take 30 minutes more than that and sometimes even more… I had to literally drag my heavy head into the car and drive to what was a very empty parking space which is usually filled by that time….on normal days of course….
Work was fine, same old same old…. i did mention before that i cant log on to friendster from the computer at the office right now which is of course a major bummer during the not so busy times at the office….. SO yea, as much as i wanted to blog, i couldnt….. and only now after being deprived of blogging, do i feel how much i actually enjoy this shit….. hahaha…. My alternative to blogging was to do something rather on the contrary. I’ve been reading instead of writing articles on www.topgear.com, which is a famous automobile programme on BBC as well as a top selling car magazine. I’ve went through almost all the road tests on various makes and models and i must say what great writers these guys are. Bear in mind, they are British but their choice of words are second to none and although i dont have a clue about their metaphors most of the time, their write ups still remain a captivating read for me…. and i’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them…. unfortunately, the cars they highlight are way out of reach for mediochre individuals such as ourselves. For instance, the Bugatti Veyron which smashed the 400kmh mark….. i couldnt even dream of ever driving one as much as im tempted to after reading what they had to say about this marvel of science…
AAnyway…
Work was over at normal time and basically the rest of the day went as usual, only prolonging to the wee hours in the morning as compared to the usual 11pm that i normally stay up until on normal weekdays…. Nice though…. and yes, Tuesday and Wednesday are holidays for me….
Fast forward to this evening…. i just sent my baby back after a nice laid back evening with her and on the way, i went head to head with a very showy Hyundai RXS-5 fully equipped with strobe lights, meters, 16"s, and a not-so-stock exhaust to match….what engine upgrades he was packing i wasnt too sure…. SO anyway….forgive me if i may seem reckless, i was just looking for a short adrenaline rush and unfortunately the condition of my clutch would not really allow me to out-drag say a Gti for now…FOR NOW…Anyway…..
We pulled uphill all the way to the bottoms section of the Happy garden, Mega mendung traffic light section where we had to stop and as required by illegal dragging tradition, look at each other and acknowledge something….. Now that i look back, im wondering what the hell was i thinking….. I had insufficient braking power, a slipping clutch, only running on low boost and it was a wet road…. Well, those facts actually made it all the more interesting for myself as i weighed my chances….
Clutch in, Entered the gear knob to first and waited for the green light….. Before i knew it, the hyundai was spinning his tyres as if there was no tomorrow, full on the throttle with his windows down and strobe lights in full force….. Unfortunately for me, i cant launch at peak torque coz of the clutch slip.. So Off the hyundai went…..As for myself, i had to rev the 1st gear to about 5k rpm, feel the clutch bite and shift to 2nd….. By the time, i can see the hyundai slowly but surely pulling to about a cars length ahead of me….
The hyundai dude mustve been a happy chap and one of the few proud hyundai owners as he seemed to have charlotte smoked over the first 40 meters, but once the clutch gave a bit more bite in 3rd, charlotte was free revving up the Hyundais tail lights all the way to the point where i had to turn off…. Imagine this in 2nd gear, Throttle is at 3/4, Revs remaining at 5,000 but the speedometer is climbing oh-so slowly till the 100kmh mark, there’s just such an immense lack of G-force that it seriously hurts my feelings…hahaha….and as i mention time and time again, its frustrating…Very frustrating….
The point of it all? well, there really isnt any apart from a good 10 seconds of thrill of which i risked wrecking my car…..hahaha…sad but true….20 year olds such as myself are of course prone to letting our adrenaline take over us….adding to that, is the satisfaction of glancing back to see a very disspapointed looking face as if he realized that no matter how nice your car looks, if u get beaten by a modest looking opponent, it does leave you with a bad mental record of being smoked…… Deny it if you wish, but thats how i feel at least….
SO yea…Hyundai RXS-5 smoked with low boost, and slipping clutch….
If after reading this you’re gonna think of asking me to take on more powerful cars, ill just have to say wait till my clutch gets replaced….hahaha….
Speaking of replacing parts, i’ve already budgeted to get my brake pads done and my steering wheel replaced sometime next month….hopefully the clutch will come soon after…..
Well…its 2am now…and im looking to get some rest tomorrow….one of the few weeks where there are 2 days consecutive holiday to catch up on chilling…. and i just noticed that the 28th (pay day) is on saturday..which means i would have to wait till monday to get the money to be available…..sigh.. this means another poor end to the month…
Dougie signing out.
